Neil Sinclair

Where in Scotland are you from? Edinburgh

What discipline(s) do you shoot? 10m Air Rifle and 50m Three Position Rifle

Which coaches have helped you get to this point in your shooting journey? My parents have been the biggest help in getting me here, my dad for occasionally being my training partner and as company to the many competitions; and my mum for helping me to keep going when things were going wrong. Now I've started working with Sinclair Bruce who has been amazing at giving me guidance to keep me moving forward.

How did you get involved in the sport and what was your shooting journey to get on to the performance programme? I started shooting as part of the Edinburgh University Rifle Club, after a year of prone I became pretty invested in the sport and took up 3P. Over that year I borrowed some equipment and taught myself 3P using any resources I could find to build my positions and technique. Then when it came round to summer I started competing at STS 3P events with the intention of making it onto the programme, which I'm extremely happy to have managed in just under a year.

Where you do your shooting? I train at the Pleasance Sports Centre as part of the Edinburgh University Rifle Club where I am the match secretary.

What are your hopes and plans for the future in terms of your shooting career? As a long-term goal I definitely would say getting to the olympics or into a world cup final; however, in the short term I hope to win the Scottish and British 3P titles, break the junior Scottish record for 3x20, and to retain my junior titles.

Any other interesting non-shooting related fact about yourself that you would like to mention? I've worked as a judo coach for over 5 years, this is something which I continue to do professionally at the club I first started at 15 years ago.
