The 2019 Scottish 50m Rifle Championship took place on the 13th/14th of July, at Denwood Target Shooting Centre, Aberdeen. 34 competitors competed for positions in both the Open and Confined events, as well as ammunition from RWS for the 1st and 2nd positions in the Open matches.
The Men’s Prone Elimination relays kicked off proceedings on Saturday, with some slightly warmer conditions that usual experienced at Denwood. Leading the way into the Championship match of 60 shots was Tony Lincoln with a score of 620.7, closely followed by Ollie Barron with 620.6. The pair continued their battle in the Championship match, with Tony sitting 0.7 points ahead of Ollie at the 40-shot mark. He then went on to secure his victory with a final score of 623.7, with Ollie taking the title in the confined event.

The Women’s 3P qualification also took place on Saturday with some impressive qualifications. Seonaid McIntosh improved on her score from last year by putting in an 1172 after starting off with 395 in the kneeling position, with May Elisabeth Nordahl following her with 1156. In the ISSF Final, Seonaid started off strong and led the final the entire way to the end, with May and Vikki Walls fighting for the silver position.

Moving into Sunday, the roles reversed, and it was time for the women to tackle the prone event. In her first match since the World Championships last year, Jennifer Ross returned to defend her title. In the Open, May Elisabeth Nordahl took the Gold position by shooting 619.9 with Jennifer coming in 2nd with 616.6, beating sister Seonaid by 0.4.

The final event of the Championship was the Men’s 3P. The top three qualifiers were Michael Bamsey, Dean Bale and Jacob Hill, shooting 1167, 1159 and 1148 respectively. Michael led the way in all three positions, resulting in a gold medal and a new British Finals Record of 458.6. Dean Bale and Tom Diggle took 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the confined, Tom took the 1st place, with Brogan Smith and Donald McIntosh placing in 2nd and 3rd.
