STS is delighted to announce the appointment of the coaches for the STS Performance Programme. The recruitment process was carried out in partnership between STS COO Oliver Barsby, the relevant discipline performance representatives and newly appointed Performance & Pathways Manager, Jennifer Ross, where appropriate. The whole process was overseen by Performance & Pathways Director, Gareth McKenna.
The Shotgun Programme has a familiar face in Marco Micheli, now covering both Trap and Skeet. Marco said, “I’m really proud to carry on working with STS after Gold Coast 2018. Many challenges are waiting for us but we’ll face them together as a team.” STS are delighted to have Marco back on board after the success of our shotgun shooters at the Commonwealth Games back in April, including a gold medal from David McMath and bronze for Linda Pearson.
New Rifle Performance Coach, Andrew Ross, may be familiar to some from his three years with the Development Squad. He is also a former squad member himself, with more than thirty international caps for Scotland. “I am very excited to have been appointed Performance Rifle Coach for STS. Having been an athlete on the Scottish Performance Programme, I know what it takes to train and compete at this level and am looking forward to giving back some of the knowledge and experience I gained during my time on the squad.”
Mark Joyce continues his work with the STS Pistol squad, focussing on 10m Air Pistol, while STS is delighted to welcome Sonal Győrik-Ramendra to the programme. Sonal works with the ISSF Academy as a tutor and though her focus will be on 25m Pistol events, we look forward to her input across the board. Sonal said, “I'm honoured to be a part of team in the capacity of the pistol coach to develop athletes technical skills and looking forward to start the New Year with new perspective to teach and learn!”
STS is pleased that the programme has been successful in attracting the best international coaches in Sonal and Marco but also the opportunity to develop Scottish performance coaches in Andrew and Mark.
