Scottish athletes dominated the annual Isle of Man Easter Shooting Festival over the weekend, bringing home a substantial medal haul across a number of events.
In Men’s 10m Air Pistol, Aedan Evans qualified first with a steady 573 with Nick Pye second on 563. Aedan took an early lead in the final but a loose shot with only two to go saw him in a nail-biting tie-shoot. 10.4 beat 10.1 and Aedan snatched gold, while Nick Pye took bronze.
In 10m Air Rifle, Vikki Walls qualified top in the Women’s and stormed away with a 5.1 lead to take gold in the combined final. The medals were rounded out by STS Performance Programme athletes Ruaraidh MacLeod and Tom Diggle, who took silver and bronze respectively.
Vikki, Ruaraidh and Tom were also dominant in the 50m Rifle Three Positions – Vikki taking gold in the Women’s, while in the Men’s Ruaraidh claimed gold and Tom brought home the silver with both athletes demonstrating considerable composure in a final fraught with technical challenges. Ruaraidh went on to win the Men’s 50m Prone final the following day, having qualified top of the field.
Some great results and congratulations to all!
