STS Selection Policy Published for 2020/21 Programme

From August to October 2019 STS ran a selection process to support the fair and transparent recruitment of athletes to the 2019-20 Performance Programme. With this process now completed and the programme underway, STS has been reflecting on and refining the process used in 2019, as well as reviewing and benchmarking the scores against international standards and making some alterations.

With that in mind, STS is pleased to confirm that the selection policy for the 2020/21 Performance Programme is now available on the STS website for anyone to access. A link to the policy can be found on the following pages on the STS website:

The programme is fully inclusive, focusing on the ISSF and WSPS disciplines of shooting. Programme applications will also consider applications from non-ISSF/WSPS disciplines if there is proof of ability and an agreement that there is potential for these skills to be transferred.

The window for selection applications will not open until 1st August 2020 and will remain open for 6 weeks, with selections taking place in September and the new squad beginning in October. We will be sure to remind the shooting community prior to the window opening and again in advance of it closing.

Finally, we also note that due to the current situation, a large number of events have either been suspended or cancelled. While we are committed to proceeding with squad selection later on this year as things currently stand, and equally committed to maintaining high standards for athletes on the programme, the policy is cognisant of the current lockdown. Therefore these special circumstances will be taken into consideration and should not deter people from applying.

STS will also be promoting this on our website and social media channels so please support us by sharing this with any of your contacts in the shooting community.

Good luck to everyone looking to apply later on this year and we hope all our members are keeping safe and healthy.
