The Scotland v London and Middlesex Rife Association (LMRA) Match is an annual event that takes place in alternate years at Blair Atholl and Bisley.
This year’s match was at Blair Atholl, shooting short range on Saturday - 2+15 at 400X, 500X and 600X – and long range on Sunday - 2+15 at 900X and 1000X. Conditions were damp on Saturday but dry most of the time on Sunday with the winds surprisingly light on both days resulting in relatively high scoring.
There were 15 shooters in the Scotland team and 16 in the LMRA team. Scoring the match is slightly different from normal in that the top 10 scores at each distance from each team are counted towards the final team scores. After the first day the scores were 2195.234v for Scotland and 2171.227v for LMRA. Top score on Saturday was made by Nick Brasier (LMRA) with a score of 224.31v followed by Claire Halleran (Scotland) on 223.29v and Angus Mcleod (Scotland) with a score of 223.26v.
On Sunday morning conditions saw light winds at 900X but then the wind grew in strength when moving back to 1000X. Even so there were some very high scoring with Mike Barlow (Scotland) scoring 148.20v, Claire Halleran (Scotland) scoring 148.18v and Kenny MacDonald (Scotland) scoring 146.14v. Claire Halleran (Scotland) was top score for the weekend with 371.47v (only dropping 4 points over the 2 days) followed by Nick Brasier (LMRA) on 369.46v and Kenny MacDonald (Scotland) on 368.40v.
The final scores for the teams were Scotland 3631.385v and LMRA 3583.340v so a win for Scotland by a margin of 48 points.
