The July competition was held on the Badenoch and Strathspey Muzzle Loading and Rifle Club’s range near Kingussie.
The course of fire consisted of :-
On the short range, the competitors addressed paper targets with Black Powder Muzzle Loading rifles of the type prevalent in the 18th and 19th centuries.
On the Air rifle range, a field trial course was set with 12 shooting positions with a total of 35 shots at various targets consisting of paper targets, reactive targets which drop down if the shot is correctly placed , plus audible targets ranging in size shape and distance, the competitors had to walk the range and choose a suitable position to shoot from with minimum distances set from 8 yards to a maximum of 35 yards.
On the short range, long barrelled pistols were used in a timed course of fire at distances from 25, 15 and 10 yards. On the same range, the above course of fire was shot with self loading rifles.
