This year’s match took place on 5th and 6th October 2024 and saw the London and Middlesex Rifle Association team travel north to shoot on the range in Glen Tilt, Blair Atholl. They brought a 16 strong team to join us on Saturday morning starting at 400yrds. The Scots in reply had a team of 22 and the decision was taken to shoot 2+15 at all ranges and counting the top 12 at each range.
The weather was dull but mild with light winds which allowed some high scores over the three ranges (400yrds, 500yrds and 600yrds).
Euan Munro topped the Scottish scores with a healthy 225.39, coached by Ron Scaglione. Nick Brasier for LMRA was not far behind with 225.35, coached by Dick Winney.
A dinner was held on Saturday evening for the shooters and their partners at the Atholl Arms.
Sunday was a cooler start and the winds threatened to make things a bit more interesting at long range (900yrds and 1000yrds) but then decided to settle down.
Ron Scaglione took the top score for Sunday, 150.15, coached by Tim Kidner.
Nick Brasier one point behind with, 149.22, coached again by Dick Winney.
Before the prizegiving, the LMRA generously treated us all to afternoon tea.
Scotland won the match by 98 points. Scotland 4421.500, LMRA 4323.434 with the top scorer for the weekend going to Euan Munro scoring an impressive 374.62 coached by Ron Scaglione and Simon Dickson.
We look forward to a return match in the South at Bisley Ranges next year.
