Marco to Leave STS
It is with a heavy heart that Scottish Target Shooting (STS) announces the departure of Performance Shotgun Coach, Marco Micheli.
Marco joined STS in 2016, originally working with Olympic Trap and Double Trap before also taking on the role of coach for Olympic Skeet too.
Under Marco’s leadership, the Scottish Shotgun shooters had their most successful Commonwealth Games ever in Gold Coast 2018 – with Linda Pearson bringing home an emotional Bronze in Women’s Double Trap and David McMath claiming a memorable Gold in the Men’s events.
In 2019, Marco began working with British Shooting, leading their Olympic Trap programme to great success with multiple European and World Championship medals – culminating in Nathan Hales’ spectacular Olympic Gold in Paris this summer.
Marco had these kind words to say about his time with STS and our Scottish athletes:
I’d like to thank STS for all these years together, they believed in me at the start of my career and I never lacked support through all these years. I’d like to thank you all the shooters I’ve been coaching through the years, whether they finished their career or they are at the beginning of their journey I really enjoyed working with them, they gave me so much and I wish them all the best for their future.
On behalf of all the athletes and staff who have had the privilege of working with Marco over his eight years with STS, we want to say a big thank you for all his hard work and input. He has transformed Olympic shotgun shooting in Scotland and in recent years has begun developing the next generation of young athletes.
We wish Marco all the very best with his future endeavours and hope to see him back in sunny Scotland at some point.
