With Day 9 being about the ladies, the tenth and final day was all about the men. It had already been a fantastic Games for Team Scotland's shooting team at the Belmont Shooting Centre with 6 medals already banked and on the plane home but there was no time for getting emotional as STS athletes were competing in two more events and with all three athletes scheduled to compete already with one medal each at these Games, they were all looking to double their personal tally and increase Scotland's already tally.

Day 9 was an all female affair and had the pressure of keeping up the trend set by the last 3 days of winning at least one medal but with the Women's Rifle athletes competing for the second day in a row and Women's Trap also taking place, there's nothing to suggest it's a trend that cant continue. There is also a look ahead to the Day 10, the final day of shooting at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, where there are yet more medal hopes for Scotland, this time with the men, in the Men's 50m 3P Rifle and the conclusion of the Queens Prize Individual Final.

Day 8 sees shotgun take a break and the Women's Rifle athletes return as they look to repeat their success from the Commonwealth Championships in November last year. We also enter Day 2 of 3 for the Queens Prize Individual Final. There is also a look ahead to the Day 9 schedule which sees the full-bore athletes take a days rest after four straight days of competing but Scotland female rifle athletes are back for a second consecutive day, this time in the 3P, and the Women's Skeet competition finally gets underway.

The STS AGM will take place at 15.00 on Saturday 28th April at Caledonia House, 1 Redheughs Rigg, Edinburgh, EH12 9DQ. On the day of the AGM, STS has also scheduled a number of sessions that are free for members to attend.

Dramatic Finals at the 2018 STS 10m Air Pistol & Air Rifle Championships
This year’s 10m Air Pistol and Rifle Championships was held at Napier University Sighthill Campus in Edinburgh with just under 100 competitors competing over two days. Our competitors came from Scotland, England, Wales, Isle of Man, Ireland, Norway, Bulgaria and Poland. They included a number of athletes who will be heading down under to the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast at the start of April. Our competitors had a wide age range from 12 to 70+ and with a Tetrathlon competition running alongside, there was also the welcome addition of Pony Club members.

HMICS Release Report on Inspection of Firearms Licensing
Scottish Target Shooting reported last year that HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland was inspecting the efficiency and effectiveness of the way in which Police Scotland delivers its statutory role as the licensing authority in Scotland for firearms, shotguns and air weapons. Scottish Target shooting played an important role in distributing and contributing to the investigation. On 6 March 2018 the report on this investigation was published.Since the establishment of Police Scotland in 2013, the report notes that efforts have been made to deliver an increasingly consistent and effective firearms licensing service across Scotland. The report welcomes the progress made to date but also notes that there remain areas for improvement. The report notes the following recommendations:
