STS Chief Operating Officer, Oliver Barsby, commented: "We have a fantastic team to send to Brisbane and the athletes selected deserve a great deal of credit for all the hard work they have put in over the last 18 months. Praise should also go to the coaches, support team and family members who support these athletes, not to mention the athletes who did not quite meet the standard this time around but have contributed so much. Good luck Scotland, #GoTeamSTS!"

The team will be ably supported by Scotland's Performance Manager, Donald McIntosh, who will also be Team Manager for the trip. Donald commented: "the Commonwealth Championships have always offered an great opportunity for our teams to prepare for the Commonwealth Games, and each played a role in the medal success we achieved in Commonwealth Games from 1998 - 2010.  After the disappointment of being unable to host a Championship in Scotland in the preparation for our home games in 2014, it is wonderful that the championship is being restarted in Australia after an eight year gap.  I am delighted to be taking a small, but strong, team from Scotland back down-under for the first time since we returned from Melbourne nearly 12 years ago and look forward to eight days of good competition on the newly upgraded facilities at Belmont, and to learning a great deal about what we will face when we return for the Commonwealth Games next April."
