Nine members of the Rifle Team, pictured here with some of the Pistol Team, travelled to Bisley for the Junior International Week. The team combined Tier 3 and Junior Squad athletes. Each member of the Team came home with at least one medal which was an amazing feat. They were awarded 10 Personal Best Certificates which showed how much they lifted their game.
On the Monday we spent a wonderful day with the grief of equipment control making sure that new kit passed the stiffness test. The first event was the 10m Air Rifle Grand Prix on Tuesday morning. Charlotte Stirling in her new kit picked up the Gold medal with a 605 which is a 25 point improvement on her previous competition PB – amazing!
In the Men’s event, Finlay Love had a very steady shoot to take the Bronze medal, although he felt that the heat affected his performance and there was room for improvement.
In the afternoon, the Prone shooters had their first Grand Prix with no training time available on the 50m range so they went straight into the variations that go on at that range.
The conditions did not worry Rory Watt too much, winning Gold with a very solid 610.3 in tricky conditions, 6 points ahead of the Silver medal score.
The Women’s Prone Grand Prix provided two medals. Kirsty Scott shot a new PB of 609.5 to win the Gold medal while Lily Brechin was not far behind with a 606.8 to take the Bronze medal.
