Scots Have Strong Representation on British Shooting Programmes
British Shooting have now confirmed the athletes to be selected to their programmes for the year and STS are delighted to confirm that Scots feature highlight across all programmes.
Podium, Podium Potential and LA Fast Track
A few months ago British Shooting announced the athletes selected to the WCP. This year’s programme features a combination of experienced competitors and rising stars, with athletes placed into three levels: Podium, Podium Potential and the newly introduced LA Fast Track.
Athletes selected for the Podium/Podium Potential programme will focus on delivering medal-winning performances at major international competitions, including the LA 2028 Games. The LA Fast Track programme, meanwhile, is an accelerator designed for a small group of athletes demonstrating exceptional potential to transition rapidly towards Podium Potential.
STS would also like to congratulate the following Scots on their selections to these extremely prestigious programmes as they push for places for 2028:
Trap
- LA Fast Track: Ewen Ross
Rifle
- Podium/Podium Potential: Seonaid McIntosh
Pistol
- LA Fast Track: Jess Liddon
Potential Programme
Recently, British Shooting confirmed the athletes selected to the newly formed ‘Olympic and Paralympic Potential Programme’, which sits beneath British Shooting’s top-level World Class Programme (WCP) and has two very clear objectives.
Firstly, it will identify and support athletes who can demonstrate their ability to accelerate onto the World Class Programme and indicate their potential to compete for quota places for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Secondly, it will begin to identify athletes who show a potential to develop towards qualification for the Brisbane 2032 Games.
The selected athletes will follow a predominantly domestic based training and support rota and will integrate with their WCP teammates throughout the season.
