Scottish Athletes Compete in Malaga Grand Prix

STS Performance Programme athletes were in action in Malaga last month, competing at the International Grand Prix in Costa Del Sol. Ten Scottish athletes competed across the Trap and Skeet events, making use of the great facilities to get some training and match experience early in the season.

There were steady performances from John Falconer, Andrew Hamilton and Drew Christie in the Men’s Olympic Trap, while Sharon Niven put in a steady 107 in the Women’s Olympic Trap event.

Ewen Ross finished 9th in the Junior Men’s Trap, with Mike Drever also 9th in the Para Trap.

Sharon and Drew were also in action in the Mixed Trap Team – Sharon paired with Matthew Panter and Drew with Joanne Ashcroft.

In the Skeet competitions, David McNeill put a great 115 and finished 5th in Junior Men’s while David McMath gained valuable experience as he transitions across from Double Trap.  There was also a fantastic 118 from STS member Clayton Harris in the Senior Men’s Skeet, finishing 12th and just two clays off the final.

Great to see our Shotgun athletes out training and competing and we look forward to see our athletes build on these performance over the coming months.
