The Dates for the 2025 Scottish 10m Air Pistol and Rifle Championships have been annound. The event will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 March at Napier Centre for Sport and Recreation in Edinburgh.

Well known stalwart of targetshooting celebrates his 100th birthday with friends and fanily at the Myreside Pavilion in Edinburgh
The Championships started on time, but a problem with one of the targets caused a delay and a split of the competition into two relays. Preparation and Sighting was re-started after 30 minutes and relay one continued without mishap. This was closely followed by relay two, shot alongside the GP 4 3P Rifle Match.
The 44th ISSF D Coaching Course was attended by 36 attendees in Henley (south of Carlisle!) over 3 days from 11-13 August 2017. It was the first such course to be held in the UK. The course was delivered by Paul Taylor for pistol and Donald McIntosh for rifle and covered a number of aspects of shooting including position, training and training plans, physical training for shooting, and electronic training aids. There was a good balance of presentation and groups exercises.
The Gold Coast 2018 Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) arrived in Scotland today, the 42nd stop on its global tour, ahead of next year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia. As hosts of the last Games in 2014, Glasgow was the first place to give the Baton a huge warm Scottish welcome, as it visited a range of youth and community projects with a strong focus on Games legacy.
Scottish Target Shooting (STS), in partnership with British Shooting, are delighted to announce an additional qualifying event to the Schools Pistol Championships - in Scotland. The event will be held at the Bo’ness Recreation Centre on Wednesday 25th October and is hosted by STS. Along with the other four events in the Championships, the Scotland event will qualify individual athletes and teams in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories for the National Final.
Scottish Target Shooting is pleased to announce the team that will be representing Scotland at the 2017 Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships taking place in Brisbane at the Belmont Shooting Complex from 30 October to 7 November. Tuesday - The Women's 25m Sport Pistol was shot today in two relays with three of our shooters (Rosie, Emily and Katie) in the first relay and four (Ciara, Emilia, Kerstin and Kyla) in the second relay. This was a first major competition for some of our girls and they coped incredibly well. Silver individual medal went to Kerstin and the team silver medals to Katie, Kerstin and Kyla.
Team Scotland has revealed an exciting five-day programme of events and celebrations which will be held around the country, to mark the visit of the Gold Coast 2018 Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) on its global tour, ahead of next year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia. In Scotland from 22-26 August 2017, the presence of the Baton will bring Gold Coast 2018 one step closer for athletes and supporters, as Team Scotland aims for its best ever medal haul at an overseas Games. British Shooting are running an ISSF Academy D Course for Rifle and Pistol Coaches in Henley on 18-20 August 2017. The course lecturers will be Donald McIntosh (Rifle) and Paul Taylor (Pistol). The deadline for applications is Friday 14 July. The course fee will be £160 per person. With recent media attention on safeguarding in sport sportscotland, Disclosure Scotland, Volunteer Scotland and Children 1st are conducting a survey to identify the knowledge and awareness of safeguarding in sport. Scottish Target Shooting fully supports this pieces of work as it will positively influence safeguarding training and support for those working with children and ultimately help to protect children in our sport.
Last week saw STS athlete Jess Liddon travel to Novi Sad in Serbia for a Grand Prix event celebrating over 220 years of the Novi Sad 1790 - the oldest sport organisation in Serbia. Jess's first match was 10m Air on Sius Ascor e-targets. She scored a credible 372 which put her into the final. Jess was up against stiff competition from Bulgarian athlete Antoaneta Boneva, a double Olympian!
One member of the STS Pistol squad was in action for The Great Britain Shooting Team at the Intarso Reflex Shooting Cup in Belgium on the first weekend in June. Alan Goodall had a mixed performance, showing great form at various times, but poor consistency wrecked any real chance of being in contention.
Two members of the Pistol squad made it down to Jersey for the Channel Islands Open over the last weekend in May. Beautiful weather and environment made for an exceptionally enjoyable event, and Jersey’s more liberal firearms laws and the friendly welcome from Jersey Pistol Club make this a venue well worth exploring for anyone wanting to try out live fire pistol shooting without the Section 5 limitations of the mainland.
Members from the Scottish Target Shooting Pistol Squad continued their attendance at some of the top European events, competing in Pilsen and then travelling on to Hannover. The squad continued to fly the flag strongly for Scotland with some excellent shooting, including new PBs as well as Gold Coast and Senior GB squad qualifying scores by a few athletes.
