The Gold Coast 2018 Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) arrived in Scotland today, the 42nd stop on its global tour, ahead of next year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia. As hosts of the last Games in 2014, Glasgow was the first place to give the Baton a huge warm Scottish welcome, as it visited a range of youth and community projects with a strong focus on Games legacy.

Lindsay Peden reports on fullbore shooting at Bisley in July: The standard of shooting at the Bisley Meeting this year was very high and I am pleased to say that the Scots were amongst the high scorers. There were three Scots in the top 25 of the Grand Aggregate, Sandy Walker, Alex Hunter and Ian Shaw, and Bruce Logan was 55th after having been in the top 25 most of the week
West of Scotland Claim the Clive Amstein Memorial 2017
The Clive Amstein Memorial Trophy is a junior version of the Inter Counties (held on the same weekend as the Inter Counties and competed for by Counties teams from the UK). The 2017 Clive Amstein Memorial Trophy was won by a team from the West Of Scotland by 3 points. A fantastic result and well done to all involved.

Team Scotland has revealed an exciting five-day programme of events and celebrations which will be held around the country, to mark the visit of the Gold Coast 2018 Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) on its global tour, ahead of next year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia. Safeguarding in Sport Survey
With recent media attention on safeguarding in sport sportscotland, Disclosure Scotland, Volunteer Scotland and Children 1st are conducting a survey to identify the knowledge and awareness of safeguarding in sport. Scottish Target Shooting fully supports this pieces of work as it will positively influence safeguarding training and support for those working with children and ultimately help to protect children in our sport.

Scottish Target Shooting will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Saturday 3rd June 2017 at 1.30pm. The location and programme is currently being finalised and will be released shortly.
We are now seeking nominations from the membership - it is possible to self-nominate or for a nomination be made by someone else, as long as the nominee's permission has been obtained.
Scottish Multi-discipline Shooting Championships
West Atholl Rifle Club assisted by Blair Atholl Gun Club and Blair Atholl Small-bore Rifle Club will again be hosting the Scottish Multi-discipline Shooting Championships at the Jubilee Range, Blair Atholl on 14th May, 2017.
Competitors will be ranked in each event and the rankings added together to determine the overall winner and team winners. The event will not be squadded so competitors may choose when to shoot each event between 9.30 and 3.30. Depending on entries some events may close earlier.
The day will be an official “guest day” for both West Atholl Rifle Club and Blair Atholl Small-bore Rifle Clubs which will allow competitors without their own rifles to use club rifles under one to one supervision.
