Scots Enjoy Success at British 50m Rifle Championships

The beginning of June saw a trio of Scottish rifle shooters make the trek to Bisley to participate in the British 50m Championship. Tom Diggle, Brogan Smith and Ruaraidh Macleod made their way south to compete in both 3P and Prone events amongst a sizable gathering of very capable athletes, including some only recently returned from the Commonwealth Games.

Local Dumfriesshire Hunt Pony Club members, old and new, are having success in the sport of target shooting. Kirsty and Jess Liddon joined the Dumfriesshire Hunt branch of the Pony Club during 2001 and have since competed all over the world including Kazan, Russia in 2013 for the World University Games, the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Australia shooting for Team Scotland and South Korea for an ISSF World Cup. Following in their footsteps are Kerstin and Kyla Dodd who have already been selected for a wealth of competitions such as the Junior Internationals at Bisley, as well as international competitions in Holland, bringing back a horde of medals.

Donald McIntosh Presented with Bob Aitken Service to Shooting Award

Last night the majority of the athletes from the Gold Coast, including family members who play such a crucial role, gathered for a small athlete's reception at the Crannog in Stirling, before going on to a reception hosted by the First Minister for all of Team Scotland. This was the perfect opportunity to present the 2018 winner of the Bob Aitken Service to Shooting Award, Donald McIntosh, with this award in front of the athletes he has worked so closely with over the last Commonwealth Games cycle.

Schools Pistol Championships Now Open

STS are delighted to announce the entries are now OPEN for the British Shooting Schools Pistol Championships 2018/19. The Championships consists of Individual and Team events each in three age categories (Junior, Intermediate and Senior), all of which are mixed gender and physical ability. Disabled athletes who qualify for the National Final will have the opportunity to compete in the Disability class at the National Final.
